Home/Services/IT Asset Recovery (ITAD)

Retire it securely.
Recover what’s left.

Asset recovery, disposition, resale and data destruction through a nationwide network of partners and warehouses—shaped around corporate, financial and healthcare data security requirements.

01 — ASSET RECOVERY OVERVIEW

Decommissioning is
a project, not a skip.

Retired equipment carries two things at once: residual value and residual risk. An ITAD program has to deal with both, in the right order.

DWC-IT coordinates the whole path—pickup and logistics, inventory, secure processing and data destruction, refurbishment, resale, repurposing and responsible recycling for whatever is genuinely at end of life. The program is assembled around your constraints: what has to be destroyed, what has to be documented, what has to be off the floor by a specific date.

The same capability supports two very different buyers. Corporate end users who are refreshing an estate, and value-added resellers who need a dependable disposition layer behind a customer project without building it internally.

02 — VALUE RECOVERY

Some of the budget
is still in the rack.

Equipment that is no longer right for your production environment is often still useful somewhere. Where resale or repurposing is practical, that value goes back toward the refresh.

01

Resale

Marketable platforms, modules and optics are tested and returned to the secondary market rather than scrapped.

02

Repurposing

Equipment moved into lab, spares, disaster recovery or lower-tier roles instead of being replaced twice.

03

Trade against a refresh

Retiring assets can be assessed alongside the new requirement, so one conversation covers both sides of the change.

What a recovery value depends on

Platform, generation, configuration, quantity, condition, market demand and how much of the original accessory set is still with the unit. DWC-IT will tell you when equipment has no realistic resale value rather than build an expectation around it.

03 — SECURE DISPOSITION

Chain of custody,
from floor to final state.

Disposition is a security process before it is a logistics process. Requirements differ sharply between a general office refresh, a regulated financial environment and a healthcare estate holding patient data—so the program is defined before anything moves.

  • Asset inventory and serial capture
  • Controlled handling and transport
  • Media identified and separated on receipt
  • Destruction or sanitization according to the agreed standard
  • Documentation returned for your records

04 — DATA DESTRUCTION

The drive is the
real liability.

Hardware can be replaced. Data cannot be un-disclosed. Destruction requirements are agreed in advance and documented, so the answer to an audit question already exists.

SANITIZATION

Wiping and verification

Where equipment is going back into service or to resale, media is sanitized and the result recorded before the asset moves on.

DESTRUCTION

Physical destruction

Where policy or regulation requires it, media is physically destroyed rather than sanitized, with documentation returned against the serial list.

05 — PICKUP AND LOGISTICS

Getting it out
of the building.

The physical side is usually what stalls a decommission. Scheduling, access, packaging and floor space all have to line up with a live production environment.

01

Scope the site

What is being retired, where it sits, how much of it there is, and what the building will allow—loading access, lift availability, security escort, out-of-hours windows.

02

Agree the program

Destruction standard, documentation, resale expectations and reporting are settled in writing before a date is booked.

03

Collect

Pickup and logistics are coordinated through the partner network, with packing and handling appropriate to the equipment class.

04

Process and report

Assets are received, inventoried, processed to the agreed standard and reported back against the list you were given at collection.

06 — FULL LIFECYCLE MANAGEMENT

Disposition works better
when it isn’t an afterthought.

Because DWC-IT also supplies the replacement equipment and tracks maintenance contracts for free, the retirement conversation can start at the point of purchase instead of years later when the asset has become somebody’s unexplained inventory line.

The first step is serialized asset management

Knowing what you own, where it is and when its coverage ends is what makes a clean disposition possible. That tracking is part of the free contract management service.

07 — WHY DWC-IT

An ITAD partner from
inside the industry.

DWC-IT has been part of the refurbished IT business since 1977, and company leaders have served as presidents and ethics board members of the industry trade associations.

Tell us what needs
to leave the floor.

Quantities, locations, data requirements and the date it has to be gone. DWC-IT will define the program around those constraints and tell you what is realistic.
