Sometimes, this just helps expedite by getting the required/prescribed number of bids. Sometimes, we find opportunities for savings.
Cisco -WS or Cisco "excess" is the best way to save money on equipment needing licensing and Smartnet instead of sparing. Also good for End of Sale gear. We also sell dealer refurbished gear where that is acceptable.
On the Cisco side, we facilitated a 75% discount on all new gear through the channel. This also included training credits and was done through another company with 30 years of history.
We are authorized to sell many new products, including HPe/Aruba. However, where we are MORE helpful is on time-sensitive situations where refurbished or used hardware is critical either to MAKE BUDGET or MAKE THE TIMELINE.
Even when new equipment is required, many times there is a line item or two which is grossly overpriced. A recent example showed a savings of more than a quarter million dollars on simple 10GB sfp's.
